Ruta
You can take a tour of the city where Antonio Machado lived, visiting the places that were emblematic during his stay in Segovia and following the route he took every day from the school where he taught to the boarding house where he stayed. It is an engaging tour that will allow you to get to know the great poet better and recreate the Segovia of his time.
The tour begins in Plaza de Díaz Sanz, where the school where he taught French is located. It continues along the Aqueduct until reaching the Canaleja viewpoint and the Casa de los Picos, in whose courtyard Machado gave his first lecture in Segovia. We continue up the street, pointing out places that were important to the author and have since disappeared to make way for new buildings, such as the old Hotel Comercio and the Café de la Unión, where he presided over literary gatherings. This brings us to the Plaza Mayor, where we discover other places that tell the story of the poet, such as the Café Juan Bravo.
Finally, we descend Calle Escuderos and arrive at the Antonio Machado House-Museum, his residence during his years in our city. Upon entering this old guesthouse, run by Doña Luisa Torrego, we can appreciate the charm of this house, a faithful reflection of the era in which Antonio Machado lived there.
