When the poet arrived in Segovia, he taught at the General and Technical Secondary School. A classroom bearing his name still stands, featuring characteristic benches at various heights and a 19th-century-style classroom layout, from which pupils used to follow the teachers’ lessons as they stood on the customary raised platform.

The classroom forms part of the Mariano Quintanilla Secondary School, a building designated a Site of Cultural Interest.
