National Park Sierra de Guadarrama

Header image

The Sierra de Guadarrama is part of the Central System, a long mountain range 500 kilometers long that crosses the center of the Iberian Peninsula from East to West.

The conditions of the Sierra, cooler and more humid than the plateaus, and their lesser transformation by human activity, have turned these mountains into a privileged refuge for biodiversity. In its physical environment, its cirques and glacial lagoons and its granite rocks stand out; between its vegetal landscapes, high mountain ecosystems and extensive Scots pine forests.

About the "Boca del Asno" Visitor Center

The building that houses the visitor center, located in the Boca del Asno recreational area, is an old forestry house. It was renovated and refurbished as an interpretation center and opened to the public in 2004. Its interpretive content has been reviewed and updated in 2015 for its adaptation as a visitor center for the Sierra de Guadarrama National Park.
